Casein is a protein in the milk, and even when it's heated, it becomes slightly gaseous.
This weather's fine, but you know, February when gets cold and rainy, that's a bad time to paint.
Just wash it a few times. Might want to go away for a week, let them wash it a few times and then let it dry completely.
